Jared Weaver focuses his practice on telecommunications and technology issues. His broad portfolio in this field includes work for the wireless, video, competitive broadband, and music industries, as well as every facet of the high-tech industry from software to hardware to network equipment and IOT.
While at the Alpine Group, Jared has both managed and served as a spokesman for a coalition of high tech companies. He was a vital part of the legislative effort that authorized the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to conduct voluntary incentive auctions of broadcast spectrum in order to secure additional spectrum for mobile broadband. He also succeeded in securing language to extend the usability of spectrum in 5 GHz for unlicensed use and successfully included funding for IOT infrastructure projects.
While on the Hill, Jared served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Rep. Anna Eshoo, whose Silicon Valley constituency is dominated by many of the world’s largest technology companies alongside thousands of start-ups. He worked as legislative counsel for Rep. Jay Inslee, whose Seattle district had a significant technology presence as well. As a result, he was deeply involved with the Hill’s technology agenda, including legislative efforts to foster innovation, address broadband funding & deployment, support Internet radio, stop the Internet tax, and address spectrum policy.
As a graduate of Catholic University’s Communications Law Institute, Jared has a profound knowledge and deep understanding of the laws and regulations affecting the communications industry. His time on Capitol Hill and at the FCC makes for a well-rounded and substantive expert when it comes to strategizing and executing lobbying efforts before Congress.
Jared lives in Washington with his wife Anna and his daughters Niki, Ellie and Annie Rose.
